The Exhibition has a new addition a panel featuring the Solidarity underground press of the decade. The panel was prepared by Shana Penn, am author of a new book on Solidarity press: "Solidarity Secret: The Women Who Defeated Communism in Poland."
Organizers: The Polish Embassy in Washington D.C. and International Committee on Journalism, Curators: Ewa Zadrzynska, Krystyna
Stachowiak, Ewa Wierzynska
The exhibit is especially timely now, as 2005 is a year marked with anniversaries of the historic events that shaped contemporary Europe: the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, the 25th anniversary of the birth of the Solidarity movement, and the 15th anniversary of the end of the Cold War. It sadly coincides with the death of Pope John Paul II. Without his great moral support the Polish Decade and the fall of communism wouldn't have happened.
