John Darnton
John Darnton was a foreign correspondent for The New York Times for more than ten years. His first assignment was in Nigeria, followed by Kenya,
where he won a George Polk Award for his coverage of Africa. He became Bureau Chief in Warsaw in 1979 and won a Pulitzer Prize and a second
George Polk Award for his coverage of the Solidarity Movement and Martial Law in 1982. He also served as Bureau Chief in Madrid and London.
As an editor, he has been Deputy Foreign Editor, Metro Editor, News Editor and is currently the paper's Culture Editor. He has also written two
best-selling novels and has just published his third, "Mind Catcher."
