Nina Darnton covered Poland for National Public Radio from 1979-1982. She also served as a Special Correspondent for Newsweek from Poland and contributed pieces to the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and the New York Times Magazine, for which she wrote a cover story on Cardinal Glemp. Returning to the US, she wrote frequently on theater and movies for the New York Times Arts and Leisure Section followed by a stint as Chief Movie Writer for the New York Post. She contributed on-air essays to public television on cultural issues before becoming a Fashion and Back-of-the Book writer for Newsweek for 6 years. She now writes fiction and contributes free-lance articles to various publications.
